A few weeks ago, we visited the Rainfer Primate Rescue Center/Chimpatía Foundation , and we left with more desire than ever to contribute our bit to this wonderful cause. As you well know, one of Momoc's core values is our environmental and social responsibility . For us, giving is one of the most important and valuable things an entrepreneur can do. From the moment we decided to embark on this adventure, we were clear about it. Part of our profits would go to non-profit organizations that aim to reforest and reintegrate animals into their natural habitat (or conserve those that, due to their circumstances, cannot be reintegrated, as is the case with Rainfer).
But finding an organization that aligns with our values isn't just a matter of doing an internet search and calling it a day. When we collaborate with an organization, we want to fall in love with it , and to do that, it's essential for us to see what they do up close, experience it, and do our own research before moving forward. When we visited the Rainfer center, we were very clear from the start. Rainfer is an animal sanctuary. To be exact: a primate sanctuary. And you might ask, what is a sanctuary? A sanctuary is a "paradise." It's the best alternative for animals who have suffered terrible mistreatment, abuse, and torture at the hands of humans to live a dignified and peaceful life , as well as a way to reintegrate them into their natural habitat, if that's possible (it's not always possible).
The Rainfer Primate Rescue Center/Chimpatía Foundation is a place of rehabilitation and rest for all primates forced to live a life they did not deserve. Its facilities offer a suitable place to allow them to develop their natural behaviors, as well as a social group in which to interact. Its work is primarily based on the rescue, rehabilitation, and lifelong care of primates in Spain. Too many primates have been used as pets in the advertising industry or in circuses and are abandoned when they are no longer useful. In Spain, most come from seizures due to illegal trafficking, exploitation in shows (circuses, advertising, and photography), abandonment, and abuse.
The center currently houses 130 rescued primates from more than 20 different species. Unfortunately, they cannot be returned to their natural habitat and therefore require special lifelong care. A great deal of effort is required to rehabilitate the rescued primates both physically and psychologically. Therefore, the Rainfer Center, together with the Chimpatía Foundation, has a team made up of professionals specializing in biology, primatology, veterinary medicine, and other disciplines. The primates are in good hands.
At the sanctuary, they not only offer a new opportunity to be happy with other animals of their own species, but they also raise awareness and educate the public through guided tours on weekends and other activities. It's very important to remember that the Rainfer Center is not a zoo or an exhibition open to the public . " We firmly believe in these animals' need for peace and quiet to ensure they have a suitable environment for their rehabilitation and a good quality of life. That's why we open our doors exclusively on weekends to small, limited groups made up of people with sensitivity and respect for animals ."
Eighty percent of the primates housed here belong to the state, but according to its data, the amount received for their maintenance and care unfortunately only covers the costs for a month and a half a year, so the Rainfer Center relies entirely on community support.
And this is where Momoc comes in.
This year, we wanted to take our Christmas campaign even further. Our motto: don't give away shoes, sponsor a primate. That's right. Until December 15th, with every purchase of our shoes, you will sponsor a primate at the Rainfer center. Thanks to you, these primates will receive a second chance after years of abuse and mistreatment. " Sponsorship is one of the most important supports for us, as it provides solidity to our project and ensures the primates' long-term survival ."
Your help will guarantee them good nutrition, as well as the care they need to live a dignified and happy life. You'll also receive a sponsorship certificate, the story of the primate you've sponsored, and reports and news about your primate. If you're also an animal lover and determined to change the world around you, this is your moment . You can help make their lives better and ensure the care and attention the Rainfer Center offers them can last for many years. All this while sporting a new pair of Momocs.
Is there a better gift?
